Humaira Ahmad is a seasoned leader with over 2 decades of experience in legal and operational roles across the globe. Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Humaira holds
Civil Law (LL.L) and Common Law (LL.B.) degrees from the University of Ottawa, and is a member of the bars of Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.
Humaira began practicing law in 2001 in Montreal with a focus on Bankruptcy, Criminal, and Family Law. She then moved to Pakistan, where she worked as the Legal Advisor
for the International Committee of the Red Cross with a focus on International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights Law and the Law of War.
Upon moving back to Canada in 2010, Humaira relocated to Edmonton where she has pursued her passion for Family Law and Human Rights Law and this continues to be
the main focus of her practice.
Humaira is an experienced litigator and has appeared at all levels of Court in Quebec and Alberta, including the Court of Appeal, as well as at the Federal Court of Canada.
Humaira has taught innumerable courses and hosted several conferences, for all levels of students, public, academics and government officials. She has been a chair, speaker,
instructor and presenter for numerous events that were organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and by various organizations and groups in Alberta.
Humaira has served and continues to serve on a number of not-for-profit boards demonstrating her commitment to community development and philanthropy.
Outside the profession, Humaira has been actively involved in promoting the importance of education for women in third world countries, supporting various Pakistani or Islamic
community organizations, and involvements with national and international humanitarian organizations.
Humaira is fluent in French Urdu, Punjabi, and has intermediate knowledge of Arabic, and German.
