
Chelsea Boucher B.A. (University of Alberta), J.D. (University of Victoria) – Barrister & Solicitor
Chelsea Boucher is a First Nations family lawyer who assists clients with a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, parenting and decision-making, child and spousal support, property division, child welfare, Emergency Protection Orders, restraining orders, and Hague Convention matters. Outside of family law, Chelsea also assists clients with estate planning, including Wills, Personal Directives, and Powers of Attorney. She believes that preparing for the future is just as important as dealing with the challenges of today and enjoys helping clients put plans in place to protect themselves and the people who matter to them.
Chelsea takes a practical and straightforward approach to family law. She understands that every family and every situation is different and works with her clients to understand what is important to them and find a path forward that makes sense for their circumstances. Her goal is to provide clear legal advice while helping clients navigate what can often be a difficult and uncertain time.
Chelsea has experience appearing before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta and has represented clients in a variety of family law proceedings. She also has training in Collaborative Law and is in the process of becoming a registered Collaborative Family Lawyer. She is interested in helping families resolve their matters outside of court where appropriate, while ensuring that clients understand their legal rights and options.
Chelsea obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria and completed the Program of Legal Studies for Native People at the University of Saskatchewan. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta. Before becoming a lawyer, Chelsea worked in post-secondary education and community engagement, including with the University of Alberta’s First Peoples’ House and the University of Alberta’s Office of the Registrar. Her work involved developing Indigenous student recruitment initiatives and working with communities throughout Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon. She continues to be involved in her community through volunteer and board work.
Outside of law, Chelsea enjoys crafting and creating handmade items, taking strength classes, spending time with family and friends, and giving plenty of love to her cat, Cedric, and dog, Colby. She is an avid reader and a longtime fan of Jodi Picoult’s novels. Chelsea looks forward to assisting you with your legal matter.
