Sweety Singh B.A Hons (English) and Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from Delhi University, India
Sweety was born and raised in Sharjah, UAE. She moved to India in 1999 to complete her High School and University education. She came to Ontario, Canada in 2012 and moved to Edmonton in 2014. She is a NCA qualified internationally trained lawyer. In India, she worked with cross border legal teams to support global full service International Law Firm offering Corporate, Commercial, Banking, Finance, and Litigation services for multinational clients. She also has experience working in Patent and Trademark management.
Before moving to Canada, she volunteered for legal aid initiatives for women inmates at Tihar Jail, in New Delhi, providing pro bono assistance and rights education to incarcerated women. Sweety has also been part of Parivartan, an NGO supporting exploited and at-risk women through advocacy and awareness programming. These experiences gave her early and formative exposure to the intersection of law, family and vulnerability and they continue to inform how she approaches client service.
In Canada, she has nearly ten years of experience working directly with newcomer families. Her interest in Family Law has been deeply rooted because of the work she did throughout her career. She has helped newly immigrant families navigate some of the most significant transitions of their lives. This work has required her to build trust quickly with people in vulnerable circumstances , understanding complex family dynamics across cultures and connect individuals with resources when the stakes are high. All of this has confirmed her commitment to practicing in Family Law.
Outside of work, Sweety enjoys travelling with her family and cooking traditional food for them.
